Plucking in Parrots
Plucking in captive companion parrots is sadly all too common.
The first course of action for a parrot that plucks or barbers its feathers is to have your parrot checked out by a QUALIFIED Avian Veterinarian. This helps to eliminate a huge amount of guesswork and saves you money spent on ‘quick fixes’.
Plucking may take months to years to fix, particularly if it has become a habit. Damaged feather follicles may never recover. Unfortunately NO OVERNIGHT cure exists.
These products listed here have proven helpful with parrots where the caretakers have been consistent with treatment, have made dietary changes, and other lifestyle changes. For some the change was within a few months, for others some setbacks have occurred.
